The Hybrid-Electric Vehicle – Power Electronics & Electric Machines course will introduce students to operating principles and fundamental parameters of electrical and electromechanical power conversion systems suitable for electric and hybrid vehicles.
Duration: 1 month
Price: $499
Course Modules:
Module 1 – Devices and Dc/Dc Converters
Learning Objective: Develop a basic understanding of static and dynamic (switching) characteristics and device ratings, characterize steady state relationships between input and output voltages and currents, and explain how to quantify losses/efficiency.
Module 2 – Six Step Inverter
Learning Objective: Characterize steady state and dynamic relationships between input and output voltages and currents and demonstrate how to quantify losses/efficiency.
Module 3 – Review of Basic Physics
Learning Objective: Analyze a simple electromechanical system and express the resulting equations in terms of current and position, relating the applied voltage in the resulting currents through the applications of Ohm’s and Faraday’s Law.
Module 4 – Permanent Magnet AC Machines
Learning Objective: Briefly review and analyze relevant physics of permanent magnet machines, describe the basic geometry of our machine, and explain the voltage in flux linkage equations and physical variables.
Module 5 – Permanent Magnet AC Drives | Induction and Switched Reluctance Drives
Learning Objective: Characterize steady-state relationships between input and output voltages and currents of two-winding transformers and demonstrate how to quantify losses/efficiency.
